Busy village, directly by the sea, 130 km north from New Quay, 136 km south-west from Liverpool, 193 km north-west from Birmingham. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort. A harbour town situated on the Glaslyn Estuary, Porthmadog is rich in maritime history and has a good number of craft shops and restaurants. Once a busy shipping port for the international slate trade, the town is an excellent base for touring the Snowdonia Mountains and Coast, a region offering historic villages, seaside resorts, castles, narrow gauge railways, museums and plenty of leisure facilities.
