The area is after all well known for its extreme sports, and a range of trial activities are available at one of the many specialist outdoor centers. For the less energetic traveller, the region offers plenty of local festivals and village days. More than anything, it can be said that the Bernese Oberland comes into bloom during the summer, and even visiting the the many little villages in the area, can be an adventure in itself. The cuisine of the region is well known for its excellent local ingredients, and artisan chocolate shops seem to have sprung up everywhere to threaten your waist line.
