Small village directly by the sea, 9 km south-west from Bantry, 42 km south from Kenmare, 93 km west from Cork. Access: motorway N22 Cork. Then road R585. For arrivals by plane: airport Cork (ORK) 89 km. It is located at the head of the Sheep's Head and Mizen Head Peninsulas on what is called the 'Friendly Cove', on one of the loveliest and most unspoilt coasts in Ireland offering stunning views over the ocean and the surrounding countryside for km in every direction. This region is particularly favoured by walkers and there are a number of highly rated public gardens established in the area, including 'Cois Abhann' and 'Kilvarock'. Surfers will enjoy Barley Cove, a spectacular sandy beach popular for its sets of waves.
