The peninsula of Brittany, 250 km long and 100 to 150 km wide, is sparsely populated, with countryside of marshland and forests in the interior, and to the north, a coastline dotted with pretty fishing villages, nestled in between steep boulders. To the south, there are long sandy beaches.
