Climate
This region is named a biosphere reservation by Unesco and this is where the town of Uherske Hradiste, also called the Garden of Moravia, is situated. The main town in the area, Zlin, is known as the shoe capital, thanks to the industrialist Tomas Bata. The town is an interesting group of different architecture, built amongst greenery. In the white Carpates (Bile Karpaty), Moravian folklore is still very much alive and, every year, a musical and popular dance festival is organised. The region is known for its excellent quality wines. Other tourist sites to visit: the Kromeriz castle with its superb garden, Velehrad, a place of pilgrimage, attached to a magnificent Italian park, Bad Luhacovice, a hot water spring resort and it is also known for the Buchlovice castle which is one of the most beautiful in Moravia.
